WELCOME TO "THE HOLBROOK HOME"

Home - definition - A place of residence and the place where one's domestic affections are centered.

Holbrooke/Holbrook is one of my family lines of which I am proud to be a descendant.  The Holbrooks are an adventurous and pioneering people who helped to settle this great land of the U.S. of A.

I would like this to be a real home for these people who came before and a clearinghouse of information for those of us who are interested in these pioneers.

My name is Shirley KENDRICK (JOHNSON) and I am descended from the Holbrooks through my Grandmother Grace Lenore HOLBROOK (KENDRICK). The Holbrook name ended with her generation in our family. There was no surviving married males to carry on the name.

The original Holbrooke in our line in America came on the "Mary Gould" in 1635 from Weymouth, England to Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Thomas Holbrook of Broudway who was married to Jane Powyes on 12 Sep 1616. The will and codicil below are for this Thomas Holbrooke. He died 10 May 1676/7.

The above Thomas HOLBROOK had a son named Thomas HOLBROOK born in 1625 and died in 1697 who married Joanna KINGMAN. Both Thomas and Joanna came over with their parents to America in 1635. They were 10 and 11 respectively.

Thomas and Joanna had a son Peter HOLBROOK born 05 Aug 1655 and died 03 May 1712, who married 1st wife Alice Godfrey whom I am descended from and his 2nd wife is Elizabeth (Shaw)Pool.

Peter HOLBROOK and Alice GODFREY had a son named Peter who was born 16 Oct 1681 and died 24 Dec 1728. This second Peter in my line married Hannah Pool on 23 Mar 1713.

Peter and Hannah also had a son named Peter who was born on 26 Nov 1713 and died 13 July 1792. This third Peter married Sarah CLARKE on 27 Jan 1736.

Peter and Sarah CLARKE had a son named Stephen HOLBROOK who was born on 30 Apr 1737 and died 11 June 1812. Stephen married Rachel COOK on 17 July 1762. He fought in the Revolutionary War as a Corporal and is listed in Graves of Revolutionary War Patriots.

Stephen and Rachel COOK had a son named Simeon HOLBROOK who was born 01 Sep 1772. Simeon's first wife was Lois HUTCHINSON which he married on 15 May 1798 who died in childbirth with their first childwho also died. He then he married Catherine HILL on 22 May 1806.

Simeon and Catherine HILL had a son named Simeon George HOLBROOK who was born on 14 Apr 1811 and died 10 Dec 1887. Simeon George Holbrook married Murtilla SEWARD on 24 Dec 1840 and they were divorced prior to 1860.

Simeon George and Murtilla SEAWARD had a son named George Simeon HOLBROOK born on 06 Jan 1846 and died 31 Jan 1923. George Simeon HOLBROOK married Jane Ann BROMHEAD 19 Nov 1871 first and when she died he then married Emma Katherine RICHARDSON.

George Simeon HOLBROOK and Jane Ann BROMHEAD had a daughter named Grace Lenore HOLBROOK born on 08 Dec 1873 and died 16 Aug 1960. Grace Lenore HOLBROOK married Peter KENDRICK on 25 Sep 1893.

Grace Lenore HOLBROOK and her sister Glady Eva HOLBROOK were the last of the Holbrook's in my line. Grace Lenore HOLBROOK KENDRICK was my grandmother, she and my grandfather Peter KENDRICK had 5 son's The oldest was George Frank born 28 Nov 1894, then Allen born 4 Oct 1896 and died 1 June 1900, Peter William (Bill) born 16 Mar 1898, Arthur Gilbert born 19 Feb 1901, and my father who was the youngest, Paul KENDRICK who was born 25 Jan 1914 and died 12 Jan 1974

Paul Augustine KENDRICK married Betty Ann MYERS on 21 Sept 1942.

Paul and Betty Ann MYERS had three children Barbara Lynne born 31 Aug 1946, Peter David born on 14 Dec 1948, and myself Shirley Louise KENDRICK born 21 July 1951.

This is my family line without going back to my English roots of which I have no documentation. For that farback family should contact me for that information.  I have information that J.C. Halbrook's shared with me before his death and I will be glad to share it.
